Roll Out
After the Church Council Meeting last night, I'd like to announce the "Roll Out" item.  At each Church Council meeting, it will be our aim to "roll out" something new to our ministries at Gibbsboro UMC.  After Monday's meeting, we have planned a number of initiatives that are designed to help us connect with one another.  We will be providing our attenders with name tags to use at our services so that we aren't at a loss for names.  This will really help our children's ministry team when they interact with the parents of kids that don't regularly come.  Now they'll know our names.  In addition, we've planned at least five fellowship meals to coincide with meaningful times in the life of the church.  Those meals will be around the time of Easter, after VBS, Homecoming (fall kick off), Christmas, and SuperBowl.  Finally, members of the council each took names with them of folks that they will be personally inviting to attend church.  Praise Jesus Forever!  We've seen God's hand at work in our midst.  Thanks for your prayers, I'll see you on Wendesday Night.

Oh, by the way, look for the new Revelation studies on the downloadable page. :)

Superbowl Party on Sunday

Well, I have three people who responded to email regarding set up for the party, which will begin at 5:30PM on Sunday.  The most popular job, clean up... remains unfilled.

I was speaking to Brian Terry today and our conversation reminded me of something from my church past.  My dad was a used car salesman.  He sold every make you can imagine.  One frustration that he always felt as a believer was in regard to his business.   He would tell me that people would always be suspicious of him simply because of his work.  Rather than call my dad in regard to a car recommendation many people in the congregation would show up sporting new wheels.  He would say, "Why wouldn't they at least call me?  Do people think that a brother in Christ would take advantage of them?"

He was always prepared to look out for his brother or sister in Christ unless they were a Browns fan.  Just kidding.

We should be that way as well.  Our community should be marked by love and grace, generosity and loyalty, friendship and comraderie.  The best business and personal contacts a person should have should be one's brothers and sisters in Christ.  Do business with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Build up the body that way.  Look for a way to be a blessing.  Look for a way to put the Love of Christ on Grand Display!

SuperBowl Party, February 4th
It's that time of year again.  I think it's safe to say that the only game the Steelers and Eagles will play will take place on Madden 2007!  So since we won't have to risk heart break and tears on behalf of our teams, we'll convene on Superbowl Sunday at 6PM for a Superbowl Potluck Dinner.  Bring your favorite item for dinner and we'll share together in a time of fellowship.

I'll see you Sunday Morning (And Wednesday night...)
