"The Great Gibbsboro Prayer Experiment"
 

“Lord, Teach Us to Pray!”

We’ve learned about Jesus’ instruction to pray. The heart of a disciple of Jesus always turns to prayer as a matter of first discipline. Our hearts cry out for this kind of fellowship but we may not always have success in prayer. This page is designed to give you practice at prayer.

  1. Identify a time for prayer.

    1. Morning or evening. TIME you will try praying this week _________________

    2. At particular moments in the day. Prayer focus times: ______ _______ _______

    3. In particular seasons of the year, the focus of our praying shifts, too.

  2. Identify a place for prayer.

    1. Elements of a good place for prayer: Quiet, soul-friendly, undisturbed

    2. Not so good places for prayer: car, bed, treadmill.

    3. Prayer is most easily accomplished when the distractions are minimized.

  3. Identify a plan for prayer. (This week, follow this pattern…)

    1. Adoration- tell God of your love, praise, and worship

    2. Confession- express repenting faith, holy grief, and the request for forgiveness.

    3. Thanksgiving- give voice to your gratitude for God’s grace, mercy, and blessing

    4. Supplication- ask the Lord to work on your behalf. Include needs for family, friends, work, school,
